recent happenings / the universe is expanding / steeltrainfuntour / etc

hi.

jack here. just got finished with a coughing fit and have now gathered the courage to write an update. I'm in bed (as I usually am when we speak) in bellingham, WA. bellingham is the 'place to drop your merchandise and illegal items before entering canada" capital of america. the hotel industry thrives off of it here. plus... it looks like the set of twilight. ... ... so, there's that.

moving along, I'd like start with an apology (typically). I have not written or updated much. I am sorry. there's been so much I've wanted to share, but this tour is unlike any other we've done, and I am playing 2 shows a night and am left as a shell of man by the time I crawl into bed. I mean, it's a real gold plated problem (like grey hair), but yes, I have felt a level of 'tired' that is charting new territories for me. my days are filled with either finding or thinking about finding coconut water. I've been chewing on bark for sustenance and using ancient secrets from bayonne, new jersey to fight combat fatigue. occasionally in the van I can convince daniel to give me a short (but effective) back rub. these small moments of relaxation are what's keeping me present. but here's the good news, this tour is incredible. playing so much music has been fulfilling on a level that I could not have dreamed. you guys--- have made every show amazing and inspiring for us. ok - here's my highlight list :

- salt lake city. just in general. I mean, what the fuck. you guys are constantly outdoing yourselves. the group sing along to 'you are dangerous' is something that will be with me forever.

- 2 iowa's / 3 ohio's. yeah. it's rare but we did it, and all the shows we an incredible time.

- yo gabba gabba song. .. we've played our children's song (it's fun to dance) that we wrote for yo gabba gabba at a few of the shows. it's been some of the coolest live experiences we've ever had getting to watch large crowds of 20-somethings act like 2 year olds. seriously, we have the best fans for getting on board the way you guys do. we are going to keep pulling this one out throughout the tour. but one thing keeps crossing my mind. ...  everyone keeps saying "you can't do that in LA". ????  so it's up to you LA. speak up. do you want 3 minutes to act like a 2 year old on october 28th? can LA let go like that? answer!

so there it is.  the time has come to rip myself out of bed and go eat everything!!! sending love. 2 king size announcements coming in the next 10 days. again - thank you to the greatest fans on earth. you guys are bananas.

talk soon - jack
