the bullet video!

videos are weird. it's hard to capture the true meaning/feeling of the song, so usually it's best to resort to something bizarre or humorous. with 'bullet', we figured it would be worth risking possibly cheesy-ness to try and re-create the very feeling that inspires the song .... which is..... our youth in new jersey. more specifically, the song is about my sister / not needing anyone else in life / always being on the run from something / never letting time catch you / generally existing on the outside of everything and finding a place within that / facing the hardest moments in life by running as fast as you can into / not accepting it when people say 'these are your best years' / running / running / not necessarily running away, more running for the fear of being the same, or still in life, or letting something pass you by because you didn't chase it. yes, that's it. like trying to find that night (or moment) that lasts forever. that's what bullet is about. it's almost like our theme song in a way because it truly touches on everything we are about. it's big and anthemic, the song can be exciting and fun but also if looked at another way is hideously depressing. most importantly, there is an underlying element of hope in it. for us, bullet captures a feeling, and that feeling is best represented by those endless nights we use to have growing in new jersey and going to legion hall punk shows. now I'm sure everyone had a super cool scene when they were a kid, and I'm not knocking that, but seriously.... new jersey in the late 90's/early 2000's was the most amazing place in the universe and for some reason nobody seemed to know about it. so.. we thought we would re-create a night in new jersey the way it would have been a decade ago. that's the bullet video. click here to see

THE SHOW:

we shot the video at the teaneck american legion hall which is literally that place were we grew up playing our first shows ever. I mean, I saw dropkick murphys and saves the day there in like '01. some of the best moments in our lives were lived in that room. we had a contest for 50 fans who wanted to come and be a part of the shoot/show. I will say this, that show was in a way our favorite we've ever played. there were about 100 people in the room. a mixture of our best friends from growing up and 50 steel train fans that came from all over the country to be there for that one night. we honestly can't thank everyone enough who came out. the lengths that everyone went through to be there created a vibe in the room that could never be manufactured or re-created. it was the greatest show/party I've ever been to. thanks again to everyone involved with this video / and thanks to everyone out there who create this vibe every night when we play bullet. ok bye!
